Sloppy Joe Pizza

Homemade pizza is seriously underrated. It is so easy to make, hella rewarding and tasty, if not tastier, then take away. Yeah duh, it's not as quick as a take away but give some planning to make pizza and you will not be disappointed. I promise. I never lie...not about pizza anyway.

I win...at homemade pizza making that is. Sometimes I win at other things too. Like having a boss shoe collection or a sarcastic personality.

This sloppy joe pizza is a serious babe. It's a hottie. Am I allowed refer to food as being babe like? Just did and I'm going to continue to.

If the food looks good it's bound to taste good too, right? Right. Well, no not always but in this case the answer is 100% YES.

IT'S A PRETTY PIZZA AND IT TASTES ACE.

A sloppy joe is a sandwich consisting of a bun that filled with ground beef cooked in a tomato sauce with a number of spices. Sloppy joes are American. I'm an Irish girl in America so I'm going to play around with some American food. Pizza aint American but there is A LOT of it here.

Smash the two things together and you've got a sloppy joe pizza...a sight for sore eyes.

Enjoy,

Holly, x

Once you have the dough made and the sauce cooked this pizza is ready in 20 minutes. The dough is an absolute walk in the park to make. Pizza should not be this easy to make!

Pizza dough+sloppy joe mince+red onion+orange pepper+cheddar+mozzarella+spring onion=winning pizza.

To make the pizza dough: combine the bread flour, instant yeast, salt and sugar in a bowl.

Add in 300ml of water.

Stir until everything is well combined, this should take a couple of minutes. If the dough feels a little dry, add a little more water.

Cover the bowl with cling film and allow to sit at room temperature for 2 hours.

As the pizza dough is rising, make the sloppy joe topping. Make the sloppy joe spice blend by mixing all the spices together. We've got onion powder, garlic powder, mustard powder, paprika, salt, pepper, chili powder and celery seeds.

Brown the mince in a pan.

Once the mince has browned, stir in the spice blend and the passata. Bring to the boil, reduce the heat and smmer for 20-25 minutes. Once cooked down..pour into a bowl and allow to cool.

Slice the red onion and orange pepper.

Once the dough has risen, oil a 9 x 13 rimmed baking sheet and dump the dough on top.

Press the dough to the edges of the tray. If the dough keeps springing back, leave it to rest for 5 minutes and then proceed.

Spread the sloppy joe mix on top, leaving an inch border around the edge.

Sprinkle over the cheddar, the sliced red onion and orange pepper. Top with the shredded mozzarella...this bit is not photographed-i got to excited to cook the dang thing!

Bake in a preheated oven of 260C for 20 minutes. Remove and serve hot.

  2. Lovely looking cheese cake/brownies- but it is a Christmas recipe I want to comment on. Did your rosemary nuts for nibbles with drinks and they were such a hit. Had no rosemary and used thyme instead. Worked well even though the rosemary is the preferred option! What a great idea to have a jar of these stored for eating with cheese and cold meats etc. Thanks!
